17 Aug 2008 Higher Education, and Those Left Behind

Reblogged from buriedunderground

It breaks my heart to have to leave my dog behind whenever I go to college. Especially when she climbs into my suitcase and looks at me like that.

I had the same experience during my undergraduate course. My weimaraner (Spooky, he was awesome!) was so sad I had to leave, but amazingly happy every time I came home. When I was away, apparently he used to sleep in my bedroom during the day.

Now, though, I’m going to commute from home to the university for my postgrad course. That way I still get to see my pup every day, and have none of the “I won’t see you for months!” guilt.

Granted, that’s not a possible solution for everyone, but having to move away from my dog again was just not going to happen.
