I’ve had a run of shitty years, but I don’t want to jinx this one by getting all enthusiastic and talking about how great it’s going to be and how everything is going to change.

Life is what you make it, right? I have no real idea what I’m moulding over here, I’m just making things up as I go along. I’ll be twenty-five years old in 2009. Should I know what’s going on by now?

Not too bad, considering that the Macbook I got a couple of months ago is also counted as a generous early Christmas present! It does sort of look like my mum and her partner are trying to tell me to do something in 2009 though.

Today I discovered that The Fast Show’s Johnny Nice Painter has his very own Wikipedia article. And rightly so.

Johnny is an aging but keen amateur painter, and therefore he enjoys many lovely afternoons in the countryside with his wife Katie, painting beautiful watercolour landscapes. That is, however, until something reminds him of the colour black…

Behold, Caesar II. I used to be so addicted to this game as a kid, and I really miss it. I also have to credit this game with really developing my love for the ancient world, particularly Rome.
