We had the great honour and pleasure of making cakes for Gavin Strange’s Droplet series 2 launch event this past weekend (6th Feb 10) and we’ve just got all of our pictures up on our flickr.
The event was a massive success - loads of people came! Our cakes were available in the gallery section of the FiftyFifty store, next to a great selection of artist customised Droplets. So many people came to view the gallery that all 50 cakes, which were offered as complementary snacks to guests, were gone within the first half-hour!

The coloured innards of the cakes
Here are some shots of the rainbow cupcakes I made yesterday for my mum’s 50th birthday. They’re delicious, by the way, even if I did slightly overcook them and my piping is horrendous! If I were to do them again, I’d also change how I put the coloured mix into the cases. I tried to make them flat layers, but had to give up because the mix wasn’t runny enough for that to work. Alas!

Vanilla sponge cupcakes covered with egg-free buttercream flavoured with 70% cocoa chocolate and sprinkled with shavings of creamy white chocolate.
I made a little surprise for Mum when she gets home from her day job today. -

Part of what I did yesterday! I’m going to wait a day or two before putting the other (completely differently decorated) cupcakes up though, I think. Just to be an evil tease!
edit: Then I remember I posted a teaser photo of those other ones yesterday… oops :) Anyway, we’re being lame and doing the whole “wait before uploading a crapton of stuff to flickr to maximise how many people actually bother to look” thing.
