  2. Perfect Cheese Toastie

    • Granary/Wholemeal/Wholegrain bread (grains are a must!)
    • Garlic butter (or regular butter and garlic powder to sprinkle, if you’re stuck)
    • Slices of Medium Cheddar (mild is too sweet, mature and upwards too sharp)
    • Assemble, then pop in a sandwich press for thin and crispy toasting

    You are now hungry. Go!

AND IN IMPORTANT BREAKING WORLD NEWS: Naples has celebrated the first day of official recognition for the Italian city’s most famous culinary creation: the pizza.
The European Union ruling marks the end of a battle that began a quarter of a century ago and aimed to protect Neapolitan pizzas from imitations.
The Traditional Speciality Guaranteed label on Naples pizza was approved last month and came into effect on Thursday. The TSG label means that all pizzerias aspiring to supply the real thing are in future supposed to be vetted by a special commission that will check standards.
They include using only San Marzano tomatoes and fresh buffalo mozzarella cheese.

This has my complete support. I have never had pizza as beautiful and delicious as the pizzas I consumed in Napoli! It’s worth the trip for that alone - being able to visit the museums, galleries, and nearby historical sites is just an added bonus, to be honest.

  4. Homemade mince pies!
We made 10 with regular mincemeat and 10 with a fancy port and cranberry mincemeat. The pastry is gorgeous, and I might just stuff my face with another one right now.

  5. They look fantastic! The edges are perfect, the tops are flakey, the inside feels moist and spongey and dense. I’m looking forward to devouring them later! (and for breakfast tomorrow, om nom nom…)

It might be the flu, or it might be because I’ve been playing a Lawful Evil Tiefling in my D&D games recently, but I could really go for some skull cake right now.
