We hate job hunting.
I applied to 5 jobs at the weekend. I just got two rejections today. I also had an email to fill in a questionnaire for the graduate panel market research group I joined up for (you earn amazon vouchers). I clicked on the link. HADN’T EVEN ENTERED anything and I got a “you’re not suitable for this questionnaire”.
I must REALLY be shit “LOL”.
I’m just waiting for this rejection from the interview last week. Then I might cry. And carry on. I can’t wait to be back at university this September.
It all sucks. This is why I’m hoping to be able to go back to study in September, otherwise, I guess I’m going to baking to within an inch of my life trying to get this business up full-time.

I just started my new job in graphic design, after 5 months of applying & going on interviews. Don’t give up! I applied to every job in SE England and went on terrible interviews for crap companies before being headhunted for my current position. Its just a shitty time for finding jobs in design. And while I loved going to uni for design, a majority of the people I graduated with have recently been made redundant and have had a hard time finding work.
My advice: Put your resume on EVERY website. Put it on Monster, and make sure you fill out the entire profile section. I didn’t have this filled out before, and response tripled after I did.
Work on your portfolio everyday. This will help build your skills, plus enhance the quality of work you are showing. Also, I have several friends that haven’t really any professional experience who have been interning at agencies for free, just for experience.
Most importantly, just don’t give up. Remember that as long as you have the skills, most jobs will come down to personality, so it’s just waiting for the right fit.
Anyhow, I just wanted to say hang in there, because lots of employers and recruiters in the past few months said that I wouldn’t find work because I was American, didn’t have UK work experience, cause I didn’t have the right experience, enough experience, too much experience, didn’t live close enough to London, etc, and in the end, they were wrong, and it didn’t matter in the least.
Good Luck!
I really needed to hear this, thanks so much :)

About my piercings
frogmonster asked
Probably none of my business but did you remove your piercings as well?
Yes, at the end of my stint at university back in 2006. I have regretted it since, because it did nothing to help my employability, so that rules out the idea that they were detrimental to it in the first place! (The dreads went about a year before that, and every so often I get pangs of regret about that.)
I kept my tongue piercing, though, and just took out my snakebite. Oh, about the septum ring in one of those photos… That’s a fake - that picture was me seeing if it looked good enough on me to be brave enough to get it done. I chickened out, of course.

Eating with fresh lip piercings
pie0:
Eating really hurts. I keep catching it on my teeth. Now my teeth and my lips hurt. It’s ridiculous. I randomly bite my lip anyway, so this on top.
Had a panini from a really nice 24hour place.
Gah.
There is a technique to it, it’ll just take a while for you to get it down properly! (Not as long as it takes to heal, fear not!) Don’t forget to wash your mouth out with anti-bacterial mouthwash after every meal, too! I never had a problem with my snakebite, but I put that down to being careful :)
And yes, I used to have a snakebite and a partially shaved head. What happened to me? :(

Mr. Rocky got to be the first post! Thanks for reblogging my crazy doglady antics.
I’m sure he’d be thrilled by this if he wasn’t curled up fast asleep at the foot of my bed right now! :3

“Just to depress me even more this week…”
I have a “back to work interview” on Tuesday. I’m supposed to bring all my evidence of job seeking. Except most places don’t even reply to anyone who hands a CV in anymore. I HATE LIFE.
Yes, it’s depressing. Luckily, as long as you seem like a reasonably intelligent person and don’t come across as a scally, the job centre people seem to be sort of understanding. I hate it though, I’m officially over 6 months unemployed now, so they’re whining at me to travel 2 hours on public transport for ANY minimum wage job I can find. The great thing is, I’d be worse off with that sort of job because the public transport would cost so much!
Argh. I hate it all. I just want a local job that is interesting and challenging and acknowledges the fact that I’m an intelligent person with a degree. Is that so much to ask for?
