Tech support fail
I just moved my uncle from Firefox back to Internet Explorer because it went batshit every time HSBC tried to make/change a cookie, now the page works fine.
Navigating someone who doesn’t know what a program is through cookie menus isn’t an option, and I have no motivation to do it.
Oh well.
Painful. This is also why I badger my family members (here and afar) to keep all their Windows updates er… up to date. If they have to use IE at some point, I’d hope it would be the most recent version.
Of course, I’m getting to the point where I’m using Google Chrome for a lot of stuff on Windows myself, so I’ll likely be throwing that on as a secondary (tertiary?) browser on peoples computers next time I do my maintenance checks.

Things I Have Learned Today
- Technology is a fickle mistress.
- Things will mysteriously start to work again, flawlessly, once you give up trying to fix them.
- Windows will always find a way to piss you off, and it will twist the knife at the same time.
- Failure of one OS suddenly makes you think your alternative (working!) OS is utterly perfect in every single way - even though in real life it is not.
- Having a second system is incredibly useful and comforting.
- Being lazy about backing data up results in fear and panic, so it is better to just keep things backed up constantly, no matter how safe you think you are.
-
Transhumanism is about how technology will eventually help us overcome the problems that have, up until now, been endemic to human nature. Cyberpunk is about how technology won’t.

Absolutely adorable! I’d love to have this on my desk.
